How to Create Effective Advertising Campaigns in Zeno Tools
Launching a successful advertising campaign is essential for boosting monetization. With Zeno Tools’ built-in Advertising feature, you can easily set up targeted audio campaigns and control how, when, and to whom your ads are delivered.
This guide walks you through every step of the campaign creation process and shares best practices to help you run effective ad campaigns on Zeno.
Step 1: Access the Advertising Dashboard
To begin, log in to your Zeno Tools account and navigate to the left-side menu.
Select Advertising, and once inside, click the blue button Add Campaign located at the top right.
This will open the campaign creation form where you’ll configure all your settings.
Step 2: Name Your Campaign
In the Campaign Name field, enter a clear and descriptive name.
Campaign names help you stay organized, especially if you plan to run multiple campaigns.
For demonstration purposes, we will use First Campaign.
Step 3: Define Your Impressions & Budget
Next, you will see Actual Impressions. This refers to the number of times you want your ad to be served.
Enter your desired impressions — for example:
100,000 impressions
Zeno uses a fixed CPM model of $0.40 per 1,000 impressions, so:
100,000 impressions ≈ $40 budget
Step 4: Set Campaign Duration
Choose your Start Date and End Date.
You can:
- Launch the campaign immediately
- or schedule it for a future date
Adjust based on your content calendar or promotional period.
Step 5: Select the Advertiser
In the Advertiser field, choose from existing advertiser profiles.
If this is your first campaign for a new client, simply type the client’s name into the field and press Enter. The system will automatically save it as a new advertiser entry. If the client already exists, just select them from the dropdown list.
Step 6: Set Priority
Zeno allows you to prioritize campaigns from 1 to 10, where:
- 1 = highest priority
- 10 = lowest priority
If you manage multiple clients or campaigns, this priority system ensures high-value ads are delivered first.
For this example, we select Priority 1.
Step 7: Upload Your Creative
Under Upload Audio, upload your ad creative.
The recommended format is MP3, and the standard duration is 15 to 30 seconds.
Ensure your audio is clear, professional, and tailored to your audience.
Step 8: Schedule Ad Delivery
In Delivery Settings, choose how and when your ads should play.
- Enable Schedule Ads Delivery if you want to control specific weekly delivery periods.
- Select recurrence (e.g., Monday–Friday, weekends)
- Choose your timezone
- Set Start Time and End Time
Example: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM (New York timezone).
This is ideal for morning drive-time campaigns or other targeted listening periods.
Step 9: Choose Delivery Strategy
Under Delivery Strategy, select how ads are distributed:
- Unpaced (as soon as possible): Delivers impressions quickly whenever inventory is available.
- Even pacing (optional): Distributes impressions evenly throughout your campaign period.
Most campaign launches begin with Unpaced to maximize delivery early.
Step 10: Configure Listener Experience Controls
These settings help protect the listener experience and prevent ad fatigue.
Options include:
- Ad Group Control: enable if you need group-level rules
- Group Ad Break Rate Limiting: This feature limits how often ads from the same advertiser appear within an ad break. If multiple campaigns share similar targeting, their ads might compete or replace each other. Enabling this option ensures a balanced rotation and prevents overexposure of one advertiser’s content.
- Ad Break Rate Limiting: Avoid or allow repeating the same ad consecutively
- Frequency Capping: Set how often the same listener can hear your ad. Example: limit repeat exposure to once every 30 minutes
This ensures listeners don’t hear the same ad too frequently — improving satisfaction and performance.
Step 11: Set Your Targeting
Targeting is one of the most important parts of building a successful campaign. This determines who will hear your ad and where it will play.
You can apply one rule or multiple rules to refine your audience depending on your strategy.
Target All Listeners
Use this option if you want your ad to reach all listeners within your account, without setting any specific targeting criteria.
Simply check “Target All Listeners” to ensure your campaign is delivered broadly across your audience.
Audience Filters & Options
Listener Country
Choose where your listeners are located.
You can use:
- is any of — to include selected countries
Example: Deliver ads to listeners in the United States and Canada.
- is not any of — to exclude specific countries
Example: If you have a global audience but want to block ads in a certain country, select it here.
This gives you control to target—or avoid specific regions—based on your campaign goals.
Station Name
If you manage multiple stations in Zeno, you can choose the exact station(s) where the campaign should run.
This is useful for networks or creators with more than one channel who want ads to run only on selected stations.
Ad Slot Selection
Choose where the ad should play in the listening experience:
- Pre-roll — plays before content starts
- Mid-roll — plays during the listening session
Select the slot based on your content strategy and listener flow.
Before finalizing your campaign, click Check Inventory.
This tool helps you:
- Verify available impressions
- Confirm your campaign can be delivered with the selected audience and settings
- Adjust targeting or impressions if needed before launching
This step ensures there is enough ad inventory to match your campaign goals and prevents under-delivery.
Step 12: Campaign Report
You can monitor your campaign performance and access detailed reports directly from the platform. Follow these steps to view and export your campaign data:
- While the campaign is running, go to the Campaigns page.
- Click the View button for the campaign you want to check.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
- At the bottom, you’ll find: Total Impressions as of the current moment. Options to export reports by Station, Country, and other filters. All reports include Daily Impressions for detailed tracking.
When the campaign ends, you can follow the same steps — simply click View and scroll down to access the final reports.
Your Campaign Is Ready!
Once all fields are completed, review your settings and click Create Campaign.
Your ad will begin delivering based on your scheduling and pacing rules.
