What is a Relay?
A relay is a duplicate of your main stream that allows you to track your audience more accurately across different platforms. It’s essentially a special mount that connects to and mirrors an existing stream, helping you gather detailed analytics.
While many broadcasters choose to set up separate relays for each platform (e.g., mobile apps, websites like TuneIn, Streema, etc.) to monitor performance and audience engagement more effectively, it is not mandatory. You can simply use the main stream URL provided in the Broadcasting Settings section of your tools.zeno.fm dashboard for any compatible player or platform.
Another way relays can be useful is by creating streams with different audio qualities. For example, you could set up a relay to broadcast in a lower quality at 96kbps and another in high quality at 320kbps. This allows listeners to choose the stream that best suits their internet connection.
Please note that free accounts are limited to streaming at a maximum quality of 128kbps.
Our supported output media formats for broadcasting are MP3 or AAC. Be sure to select one of these formats when setting up your stream for the best compatibility and performance on the Zeno platform.
